How do I find lug nut torque from a VIN?

Yes. VIN decoding uses the NHTSA vPIC public API and is completely free, with no sign-up and no limit on how many VINs you decode. The lookup runs in your browser and we do not store the VINs you paste.

What if my vehicle is not in the dataset yet?

The decoder still fills in your year, make and model so you can keep going. If we have not verified a torque spec for that exact vehicle, use the year / make / model dropdowns or check the sticker inside the driver door jamb for the manufacturer torque value.

Where do I find my VIN?

The 17-character VIN is stamped on the driver-side dashboard where it meets the windshield, on the sticker inside the driver door jamb, and on your registration and insurance card. Double-check any 0 (zero) vs O and 1 vs I when typing it in.
