E-Z-GO Golf Cart Torque Specs

Wheel lug nut torque falls into three families by model and powertrain — not one golf-cart number. Sourced from 26 E-Z-GO owner’s manuals, with the recorded conflicts left as conflicts rather than guessed at.

Wheel lug nut torque — three families, not one number

Lug-nut torque depends on the exact model and powertrain. The upper limit (85 ft-lb / 115 Nm) is common to every manual read except the Express 4x4.

Recorded conflicts (printed as-is, not resolved)

Liberty LSV: 2026 vs. MY2027+

The 2026 Liberty LSV manual (issued July 2025) prints 65–85 ft-lb (88–115 Nm); the MY2027+ Liberty 4/4F LSV ELiTE manual prints 50–85 ft-lb (68–115 Nm). Different model years, and possibly different wheel/hub hardware — use the manual for your exact model year.

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — 2026 Liberty LSV (10119293-A, issued July 2025, p.49): “Lug Nut Torque 65 - 85 ft.lbs. (88 - 115 Nm)”

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Liberty LSV ELiTE: Liberty 4, Liberty 4F (MY2027+) (10104409-B (scanned PDF; text layer is OCR), p.46): “tighten the lug nuts to 50 - 85 ft.lbs. (68 - 115 Nm)”

Valor family: 48V lead-acid vs. Valor 6

Valor / Valor 4 48V lead-acid prints 50–85 ft-lb; Valor 6 48V and the Valor 2/4 EX1 gas manuals print 65–85 ft-lb — not the same figure across the Valor line.

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Valor / Valor 4, 48V lead acid, with IntelliBrake (MY2024–current) (10036461-C, p.27): “Lug Nut Torque 50 - 85 ft.lbs. (68 - 115 Nm)”

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Valor 6, 48V electric (MY2024–current) (10025377-D, p.29): “Lug Nut Torque 65 - 85 ft.lbs. (88 - 115 Nm)”

Express 4/6: EFI gas vs. ELiTE

Express 4/6 EFI gas prints 65–85 ft-lb; Express 4/6 ELiTE (MY2025+) prints 50–85 ft-lb. But Express S2/S4/S6/L6 ELiTE models print 65–85 ft-lb, the same as their gas twins — the ELiTE-vs-gas split does not hold for the whole lineup.

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Express 4 EFI / Express 6 EFI (gas) (10082879-E, p.34): “Lug Nut Torque 65 - 85 ft.lbs. (88 - 115 Nm)”

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Express 4 ELiTE / Express 6 ELiTE with IntelliBrake (MY2025+) (10082881-D, p.30): “Lug Nut Torque 50 - 85 ft.lbs. (68 - 115 Nm)”

Gas carts: every EFI gas manual vs. Liberty 4 PTV CRX gas

Every gas/EFI manual read prints 65–85 ft-lb except the MY2027+ Liberty 4 PTV with the CRX EFI gas engine, which prints 50–85 ft-lb — confirmed in both the table and the sentence on the rendered page, not a misread.

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Express 4 EFI / Express 6 EFI (gas) (10082879-E, p.34): “Lug Nut Torque 65 - 85 ft.lbs. (88 - 115 Nm)”

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Liberty 4 PTV with CRX EFI gas engine (MY2027+) (10213731-A (scanned PDF; text layer is OCR), p.47): “tighten the lug nuts to 50 - 85 ft.lbs. (68 - 115 Nm)”

Tightening pattern

Cross sequence: tighten in the manual’s numbered order 1-2-3-4, where each step goes to the diagonally opposite nut (1 top-left → 2 bottom-right → 3 top-right → 4 bottom-left), illustrated as "Lug Nut Tightening Pattern" in every manual. Finger- or hand-tighten all four first, then tighten in 20 ft-lb (27 Nm) increments up to the specified range — never past it. Tools: 3/4" lug wrench or 3/4" impact socket, and a torque wrench reading in ft-lb. No manual prints a re-torque interval in miles; maintenance charts list "Wheel lug nuts — Pre-ride (or Daily) — Check for loose or missing." Express 4/6 CRX and Liberty 4 CRX manuals add a warning that factory wheel spacers/wheel bolts must not be modified and must be confirmed flush and properly torqued before the cart is driven.

Hub spacers (if equipped)

65–75 ft-lb (88–102 Nm)

Express S6 EFI and Express L6 EFI, if the cart is equipped with hub spacers — torque before installing the wheel. The Express S6 ELiTE and Express L6 ELiTE manuals print the identical notice on their own p.41.

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Express S6 EFI (gas) (10013985-G, p.38): “torqued to 65-75 ft. lbs. (88-102 Nm) before installing wheel”

E-Z-GO Owner’s Manual — Express L6 EFI (gas) (10013986-F, p.38): “torqued to 65-75 ft. lbs. (88-102 Nm) before installing wheel”

Pre-EX1 (Kawasaki FJ400D, 13.5 hp) TXT gas carts are not covered — the two TXT gas manuals sourced here are the current EX1 (2020 revision) ones, and the 65–85 ft-lb figure is not extended backward to the older engine. Club Car has not been sourced yet. Lug-nut thread size is not printed in any manual — only "3/4″ lug wrench" appears in the tool list, which is a socket size, not a thread spec.

What is the lug nut torque on an E-Z-GO golf cart?

It depends on the model. Most gas/EFI carts and several electrics print 65–85 ft-lb (88–115 Nm); most 48V electric and IntelliBrake ELiTE lithium models print 50–85 ft-lb (68–115 Nm); the Express 4x4 72V is the outlier at 65–75 ft-lb (88–101 Nm), with a printed caution not to exceed 75 ft-lb. Check the family table above for your exact model.

What is the tightening pattern for E-Z-GO lug nuts?

Every manual prints the same cross sequence: tighten in the numbered order 1-2-3-4, where each step goes to the diagonally opposite nut (1 top-left → 2 bottom-right → 3 top-right → 4 bottom-left). Finger- or hand-tighten all four first, then tighten in 20 ft-lb (27 Nm) increments up to the specified range — never past it.

Recorded conflicts

The 2026 Liberty LSV manual prints 65–85 ft-lb while the MY2027+ Liberty 4/4F LSV ELiTE manual prints 50–85 ft-lb; Valor/Valor 4 48V prints 50–85 ft-lb while Valor 6 48V prints 65–85 ft-lb; Express 4/6 EFI gas prints 65–85 ft-lb while Express 4/6 ELiTE prints 50–85 ft-lb; and the MY2027+ Liberty 4 PTV with CRX EFI gas engine prints 50–85 ft-lb where every other gas/EFI manual prints 65–85 ft-lb. Each pair is recorded as printed, not resolved.

What the manuals don’t print

None of the 26 owner’s manuals print a torque for the rear axle/hub nut, brake caliper or drum hardware, suspension, or steering — they point to the Technician’s Repair and Service Manual instead. Lug-nut thread size is not printed either, only a "3/4 in lug wrench" tool-list entry. Club Car has not been sourced yet, and pre-EX1 (Kawasaki-engine) TXT gas carts are not covered.
