Honda EU2000i Torque Specs
Fastener torque specifications for the Honda EU2000i inverter generator and its EU2200i successor — spark plug, cylinder head, and the service fasteners you meet during a valve adjustment or carburetor clean. Values are for clean, dry threads on a cold engine.
Key torque specs
Spark plug (NGK CR5HSB): 9 ft-lbs (12 N·m), using a 5/8" (16mm) spark plug socket — this is a small M10 plug, so its spec is lower than the 13 ft-lbs used by Honda's M14-plug GX engines. If you do not have a torque wrench that reaches, the field method is finger-tight until seated, then half a turn. Cylinder head bolt (M6 flange): 106 in-lbs (12 N·m), tightened in a cross pattern in two stages rather than one pull. The head is aluminium and these are small fasteners — a torque wrench is not optional here.
Servicing an inverter generator
The EU2000i is a sealed, compact package, so most fastener damage happens from overtightening small screws into soft castings rather than from anything working loose. Torque the spark plug to spec rather than by feel: an over-torqued plug in an aluminium head is the single most expensive mistake on this generator, and it is the fastener people are most likely to guess at. Let the engine cool fully before touching the head bolts.
