LCT's own manual prints N·m first. Every torque cell in LCT's service manual reads "N·m (English)" — for example "36 (27 ft-lbs.)". This page leads with the English ft-lb/in-lb figure instead, per this site's convention, and gives LCT's printed N·m value in each row's note.
LCT (Liquid Combustion Technology) builds the horizontal snow-blower engines sold under Ariens' own AX, AX EFI, Gen II and Single Stage names, and as Sno-Tek by Ariens. LCT's own documents name only Ariens (AX, AX EFI, Gen II, Single Stage), Sno-Tek by Ariens and the "HOP"… Read the rest ›
initials in one manual footer; they do not print Husqvarna, Toro, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, MTD or Craftsman, so this page lists none of them. LCT's Engines Service Manual organizes its torque table strictly by displacement (79, 136, 179, 208/223, 254, 291, 306, 369, 414 and 420cc), not by generation, so this page is built the same way: pick your engine's displacement from the model-number decoder below, then read its table. Two real conflicts are called out rather than hidden: the service manual and the current OEM owner's manuals disagree on the 291-420cc oil drain bolt and drain tube, and the Gen I 208 Series owner's manual prints its own lower drain-plug and drain-tube figures that apply to that generation only.

Every torque figure below comes from one of three LCT-published documents, all downloaded directly from lctusa.com: the Engines Service Manual (PGM45015 rev I, 07/17/18) — the only document with a full torque table, printed across two pages (p.13 for 79/136/179/208-223/254cc, p.14 for 291/306/369/414/420cc) — the model- and serial-number decoder on p.3-4 of that same manual, the 208 Series Generation I owner's manual (PGH45060, rev 6/09/10), and the current Ariens AX (PGM45004), Sno-Tek by Ariens (PGM45003), Gen II SnowKing (PGM45001), Ariens Gen II (PGM45002) and EGOV/EFI (PGM45026) owner's manuals, whose drain-bolt/tube figures are cited alongside the service manual's wherever the two disagree. Owner's manuals that print no numeric torque at all (Ariens AX EFI, the tri-lingual summer-engine manual, the general-purpose Powerhorse manual, the V-twin manuals) and the one 2020 HOP manual whose text layer could not be extracted are not cited for any figure. No head-bolt tightening sequence or stage count is printed anywhere in these documents — the service manual gives a single final value or range per displacement and nothing else. LCT prints its torque figures with N·m first in every table cell; this page leads with the English (ft-lb/in-lb) figure LCT prints in parentheses, per this site's convention, and carries the N·m in each row's note.

LCT model numbers encode displacement as a 3-4 digit "HP code" rather than printing the cc figure directly. The service manual's worked example, model "PLMHK14650124PBGPSTUVE2M," decodes to "650 6.5hp (208cc) engine" — the "650" segment is the HP code that maps to 208cc below.

223cc has no HP code
223cc only appears in the service manual's "208/223cc" torque-table column and its general-specs table — it is not one of the HP codes above and has no model-number decoder entry of its own. Use the 208/223cc column for either displacement.
HP codes with no torque-table column
The decoder table (p.4) also prints smaller general-purpose HP codes — 150 [1.5hp (63cc)], 200 [2.0hp (87cc)], 250 [2.5hp (98cc)], and 350 [3.5hp (106cc)] — and a separate "CI" prefix series (CI219, CI219A, CI306, CI306A, CI418, CI418A, CI435A, spanning 219-435cc). None of these codes or displacements appears as a column in the torque table on p.13-14, so no torque figures are published for them.
Design-family and serial-number codes
The service manual's decoder also lists design-family codes: W1 GEN I Snow, W2 GEN II Snow, W3 Single Stage Snow, W4/W5 Snow King, W6 Private Label Snow, W7 Ariens Single Stage, and W8 GEN III Snow. Separately, the serial number encodes model year, series, and month — the manual's own example, "1695H0300001A," decodes to 16 = 2016, 95H = 306cc Horizontal Engine Series, 03 = March. OEM manuals add a few more series codes: 65H = 208cc (Ariens AX manual, PGM45004 p.14) and 10H = 369cc (EGOV/EFI manual, PGM45026).

Which OEM brands actually use LCT engines
LCT's own documents print exactly these OEM names on snow engines: Ariens (AX, AX EFI, Gen II, and the "Ariens Single Stage" design-family code W7), Sno-Tek by Ariens, and "HOP" — which is a manual footer ("HOP EGov & EFI Gen IV"), not one of the W1-W8 design-family decoder codes, and appears only there and in lctusa.com's own link labels, never spelled out as Husqvarna Outdoor Products inside a document. "Snow King" likewise appears only as the W4/W5 design-family code in the service manual's decoder chart, not as OEM branding printed inside any owner's manual. Powerhorse is a separate, general-purpose LCT engine line (PGM45006) with no snow-specific content and no torque table of its own — it is not part of the snow-engine lineup this page covers.
Husqvarna, Poulan Pro, Craftsman, Toro, Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, MTD, and the names "Storm," "Prime," and "StormForce" do not appear inside any LCT document sourced for this page (StormForce appears only as an lctusa.com marketing link label, not inside a manual). Do not attribute an LCT engine to any of those brands unless a manual from that brand itself names LCT as the engine supplier.
Where LCT's own documents disagree
Two genuine conflicts are recorded in the tables above rather than resolved by picking one figure.
